Choosing a Criminal / Terrorist Interdiction Training Provider.

Criminal Highway Interdiction has been in existence for decades. However, over the past several years, an increasing number of agencies have established an Interdiction program within their department to help combat the illegal flow of drugs and weapons being transported through their community and across the nation.

After 9-11, not only has Law Enforcement integrated Terrorist Interdiction Training into their Criminal Interdiction program, but Private Industry has also found a need for this type of training in order to help prevent Terrorists from entering into their establishments for the purpose of executing a deadly attack, aimed against their employees and property.

Knowing that the demand for this type of training has become high in demand within the last several years, an increasing number of organizations and individuals have begun offering training in this field of public safety.

Threat Level 5 would like to make you aware that even though there are several individuals and organizations that are highly qualified to train your agency, officers, and employees in Criminal & Terrorist Interdiction, you should consider the following when choosing a training provider:

Do not choose a provider based on how long the company has been in existence, but rather on the years of experience that the provider's current instructors have in Law Enforcement or government related employment. Even though a provider may have been established for a long period of time, they might not maintain the same instructors during this time period therefore resulting in the loss of valuable experience.

Is the company that provides the training owned and operated by commissioned law enforcement officers that currently conduct criminal interdiction stops?

Check to see if the Instructor(s) that are providing your training have actually been involved in real life hands-on highway Criminal Interdiction stops, and if they have been successful in their career as an Interdiction Officer. Ask if they are providing training based on personal experience, or rather on the experience of others only. Ask for the Instructors resume.

Inquire about the work history of the instructors who will be training your employees. Make sure that they have a good reputation and working relation with the surrounding agencies, courts and local and federal prosecutors within the area in which they work, or have previously worked. Ask for references if in doubt.

Threat Level 5 invites you to check out what other providers have to offer as far as the quality of the instructors and the cost of the training. Do not be miss-lead by the old saying "You get what you pay for." The Threat Level 5 administration believes that in the end, "It's not about the amount you pay, but the amount you get out of what you paid."

Choosing the most experienced and qualified training provider will ensure that your agency and officers or business and employees will receive the maximum and most reliable training available.
